New CityFolk Songwriting Initiative Underway at GNAG
‘What’s in the Song’, a new CityFolk community music initiative, has kicked off in the Glebe at the Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group. The idea behind the program is to invite students who have an interest in songwriting to join up with a local professional musician to explore some of the techniques and processes used in the creation of songs. The goal is for each student to participate in the writing of two songs, either as individuals or in a group. At the end of the program, students will present some of the songs at a coffee house in the big room at GNAG.
We are very fortunate to have local Juno award winner Kellylee Evans in the Glebe as coach this year. Kellylee is a highly successful songwriter and dynamic teacher and her enthusiasm for writing and the process of writing was apparent on the first night. We can’t wait to hear what these young writers can put together.
