2023 Blues in the Schools

We are happy to announce that 20 schools participated in the first ‘in-person’ Blues in the Schools program in three years. Schools from Cobden, Perth, Merrickville Ottawa and Eastern Ottawa joined local and visiting artists in celebrating roots oriented music and its effect on modern genres. In total, approximately 7200 students participated each day during presentations.

Blues in the Schools was initiated in two Ottawa-area schools in 1999 and has since seen tremendous growth. Each spring visiting artists/educators and local musicians deliver the program to thousands of students in Ottawa schools, contributing hundreds of hours of in-class instruction over a two-week period.
